Gummies win on compliance and lose on cost, and OLLY is the cleanest example of both. OLLY Sleep pairs a labeled 3 mg of melatonin with L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea that the sleep-supplement category commonly includes alongside melatonin. The title does not publish the L-theanine amount, so we do not either; the Supplement Facts panel does. It is the best gummy in our overall best melatonin ranking and the anchor of our melatonin with L-theanine guide.

Sizes: the 50 count is $11.90 (about 24 cents per gummy) and the 120-count pouch is $29.99 (about 25 cents), so the 70-count bottle is the value of the three at our check, which is unusual and worth re-checking on the day you buy. The gummy is sweetened; the sugar amount is not stated in the title. Store it out of reach of children.

Extra Strength is the 3 mg gummy with the amount turned up, at the same price. OLLY Extra Strength Sleep carries the label's structure/function phrase, "Occasional Sleep Support," in the title and 5 mg on the Supplement Facts panel. $17.02 for 70 is about 24 cents per gummy, within a penny of the original Sleep gummy. OLLY does not charge more for more melatonin, which means the only reason to buy this one is that you have used 5 mg and want it.

A 50 count is $12.88 (about 26 cents per gummy). For the same 5 mg in a no-water tablet, OLLY's Extra Strength Sleep Fast Dissolve is 30 tablets for $10.99, about 37 cents a night. Whether the title states L-theanine at this strength, it does not, so we do not claim it; check the panel.

Ten milligrams in a gummy is a lot of melatonin in the format easiest to take too much of. OLLY Maximum Strength Sleep states 10 mg in the title, 70 to the bottle at $16.88, about 24 cents per gummy. It exists because a large share of buyers search for 10 mg, and if that is your amount, an OLLY with a clearly labeled 10 mg is a credible way to buy it.

On price, the Maximum Strength gummy is no better than the original, so the decision is purely about amount. Natrol's 10 mg Gummies (90 count, $10.97) are about 12 cents per gummy, half the OLLY price at the same amount, which is the benchmark that matters if you have settled on 10 mg in a gummy.

OLLY moved into Natrol's format, and priced it like a gummy. OLLY Sleep Fast Dissolves state 3 mg melatonin and lemon balm in the title, dissolve on the tongue with no water, and come 30 to a pack at $9.99. That is about 33 cents a night. Natrol's 3 mg Fast Dissolve is 90 for $7.32, about 8 cents. The formats are the same idea; the prices are not.

The 5 mg version, OLLY Extra Strength Sleep Fast Dissolve, is 30 tablets for $10.99, about 37 cents a night. Both are sweetened tablets; the sweetener is not stated in the title.

We rank on what the title states, and this title states the least. OLLY Ultra Strength Sleep Softgels are a swallowed softgel, 60 to the bottle at $18.99, about 32 cents a night. The title says "Ultra Strength" and "Drug Free Nighttime Support*," the label's structure/function phrase, and does not publish the melatonin per serving or any added ingredient. The Supplement Facts panel does, and you should read it before buying.

A softgel is swallowed with water and needs the lead time a label typically directs, which gives up the one thing OLLY's gummies and fast-dissolves offer, convenience. For a swallowed 5 mg from a recognized brand, Nature's Bounty's 5 mg Softgels (90 count, $6.59) are about 7 cents a night and state the amount in the title. OLLY charges about 24 cents per gummy at every strength; Natrol charges about 12. Natrol Melatonin 5 mg Gummies state 5 mg in the title, come 90 to the bottle at $10.97, and work out to about 12 cents per gummy. That is the same amount as OLLY Extra Strength at half the per-gummy cost, with 20 more gummies in the bottle.

If OLLY's 3 mg is more than you want in a gummy, this is the mainstream alternative. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Melatonin Gummies state 2 mg melatonin with chamomile and lavender, two botanicals the category pairs with melatonin the way OLLY pairs L-theanine. The amounts of either botanical are not published in the title. Pure Zzzs is the melatonin line from the ZzzQuil name; the original ZzzQuil liquid is a diphenhydramine drug with a Drug Facts panel, a different product entirely.
