Pure Zzzs won its shelf space by going lower, not higher. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Melatonin Gummies state 2 mg melatonin in the title, a full milligram under OLLY's original and half of Nature's Bounty's or Natrol's lowest gummy. Sleep clinicians commonly cite 0.5 to 3 mg as a sensible starting range, on the general principle that more melatonin is not better; 2 mg sits squarely inside it. Chamomile and lavender are the botanicals the category pairs with melatonin the way OLLY pairs L-theanine; their amounts are not in the title.

A larger size, Pure Zzzs 2 mg gummies at $17.99, is the same formula with the same gap in the title. The serving size is on the label, not in the title; gummies commonly deliver their labeled amount per two gummies. Magnesium is the most common thing added to melatonin, and this is the pharmacy-aisle version of that idea. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs +Magnesium Gummies state 2 mg melatonin and magnesium citrate in the title. At $11.29 it was the cheapest Pure Zzzs bottle at our check, under the plain 2 mg gummy, which is unusual for a blend and worth re-checking on the day you buy.

Pure Zzzs also sells a melatonin-free +Magnesium Capsules product ($13.95) with L-theanine and a four-form magnesium blend per the title, which belongs in our melatonin-free sleep aids guide rather than here. And the brand's stress-positioned gummy, Pure Zzzs De-Stress ($16.74), pairs the same 2 mg with ashwagandha; its title is truncated where the count would be, so we do not state one.

"3X" is arithmetic, not a benefit. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Triple Action states 6 mg melatonin in the title, three times the original Pure Zzzs gummy, alongside ashwagandha, a botanical the category has added to sleep blends widely in recent years. The ashwagandha amount is not in the title, the count is not in the title, and $16.97 is the bottle price.

For a similar amount from a rival, OLLY's Extra Strength (5 mg per the label) publishes its 70 count and works out to about 24 cents per gummy; Pure Zzzs Triple Action cannot be compared that way until you read the count off the bottle. That gap in the title is the recurring weakness of the whole Pure Zzzs line, and it is the main reason OLLY comes out ahead in OLLY vs ZzzQuil on transparency even where Pure Zzzs wins on amount.

Five ingredients, one number published. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Complete Sleep states 10 mg melatonin and lists L-theanine, GABA, ashwagandha and magnesium in the title. None of the four added amounts appear, and neither does the count. At $16.08 a bottle it is priced below Triple Action, which is odd for the more complex formula and another reason to re-check prices on the day.

Pure Zzzs moved into Natrol's format late and only at the top amount. ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Fast Dissolve Melatonin states 10 mg in the title and a strawberry flavor per the listing, dissolves on the tongue, and is priced at $18.84. There is no 2 mg or 5 mg fast-dissolve in the Pure Zzzs line at our check, so a buyer who likes the brand's low-amount philosophy has no way to get it in a tablet.

The other Pure Zzzs tablet is Pure Zzzs All Night Extended Release ($35.98), a swallowed extended-release tablet marketed for staying asleep; its title does not publish the melatonin amount or the count, and at that bottle price it is hard to recommend over Nature Made's 4 mg Extended Release (90 for $7.69) in our time-release guide.

Two brands made melatonin gummies a pharmacy-aisle default, and they made different choices. OLLY Sleep pairs a labeled 3 mg with L-theanine, an amino acid found in tea; Pure Zzzs pairs 2 mg with chamomile and lavender. OLLY publishes its count in the title (70), so the per-gummy math is available: $16.35 divided by 70 is about 23 cents. Pure Zzzs does not publish a count, so the math is not.

If the 2 mg amount is what draws you to Pure Zzzs, this is the same idea with the math shown. Nature Made Melatonin Gummies 2.5 mg state the amount and the count in the title, so $8.59 divided by 80 is about 11 cents per gummy, less than half of OLLY. The 130-count bottle is $13.96 and about the same per gummy.
