What the title does not tell you: the flavor, the sweetener, or any added ingredient. A quick-dissolve tablet is almost always sweetened and flavored, and the Supplement Facts panel is where you find out with what. The other honest caveat is commitment: 240 tablets is eight months of one amount, and if 3 mg turns out to be too much or too little you will have a lot of tablets left. At $7.74 that is a cheap mistake.

Softgels are the unglamorous format a lot of people quietly prefer. A softgel is swallowed with water and needs the lead time a label typically directs, and the title does not state whether the softgel is gelatin-based, which matters to vegetarians.

Low-dose melatonin usually costs more per milligram; here it costs almost nothing. Nature's Bounty Melatonin 1 mg is a swallowed tablet at a labeled 1 mg, 180 to the bottle, $4.09, about 2.3 cents a night. The title carries the label's structure/function phrase, "Promotes Relaxation and Sleep Health," and states 100% drug free. That is a six-month bottle for the price of a coffee.

What the extra five cents a night buys. The Natrol Melatonin 3 mg Fast Dissolve states its flavor (strawberry) in the title, comes in a 90-count bottle that is three months rather than eight, and is the fast-dissolve that most people picture when they picture melatonin. $7.32 divided by 90 is about 8 cents a night.
